AC MILLAN 4 ARSENAL 0: Not even Thierry can lift Wenger's innocents abroad

When it was all over, he turned to applaud the Arsenal fans high in the Curva Nord. They sang his name, although it could barely be heard above the din of the home celebrations. Thierry Henry stripped off his shirt to exchange with the true star of the night, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and then left, with his memories. Better ones than this, obviously.(reported by Dailymail online)

Ibrahimovic, the outstanding leader of Milan’s front line, was afforded the sort of space that suggested Arsenal’s defensive midfield had not been paying attention to the first half, before slipping the ball inside to Robinho.
At this point Thomas Vermaelen slipped on the Milan pitch — which was poor, but not in a way that seemed to overly trouble the home team, who played all the football  on it — allowing the Brazilian to size up a shot which he sent beyond the reach of Wojciech Szczesny.

The reality is that the beautiful game associated with Arsenal is hardly seen these days. Arsenal can play better, no doubt of it, but in the first half here they were pedestrian by comparison to Milan.
The Italians, who have not fared so well in Europe themselves since winning this tournament in 2007, were quicker, sharper, more enterprising and savvier.
They broke freely, and with intelligence, they sized up and seized opportunities. When the ball took a ricochet and shot into the air in the penalty area, Arsenal’s defence, to a man, stood transfixed by it — only Ibrahimovic adjusted his position to take advantage as it fell at his feet. Milan are the leading team in Serie A and, time was, such domination of possession and invention came with the territory. They were top too, however, when Tottenham Hotspur visited here last season and won.
